The background

A career spent understanding how information—and businesses—work.

That journey started in journalism, working in local and national newsrooms, before moving into communications and consultancy.

Since then, the work has ranged from startups and specialist technology companies to global organisations, with much of the past decade spent around fintech, blockchain, emerging technology and AI.

Along the way came a close-up view of how businesses actually operate—and how much time can disappear into repetitive administration, disconnected software, duplicated work and processes that have simply evolved without anyone stopping to ask whether there is a better way.

From insight to implementation

Knowing what technology can—and can’t—do well.

As AI and automation became genuinely useful business tools, that experience expanded into software and AI engineering: building applications, automations and AI-powered workflows.

Sterling brings those two sides together: real-world business experience and practical technical capability.

The Sterling approach

The starting point isn’t AI for the sake of AI.
